Farmer's Market Rainy Day Blues: Saturday, July 9th!

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one getting burned. -Buddha (c. 566-480 BCE)

Hi Sarge! My Grandmothers for Africa personal page: https://slf.akaraisin.com/pledge/Participant/Home.aspx?seid=11694&mid=9&pid=2756658

[Sam and her grey Equinox. Had lunch today and she sends her love]

Thanks very much! Lady Dar thinks it's silly for you to drive back to Spirit Ridge but do what you feel, of course. [I'll tell Mark and Krissy that you may or may not be staying.] The tickets to Poplar Grove will be on the bulletin board, by the back door to the garage. Code for door is: 111108 but there is a key to the patio side door in the well of the side burner of the bbq in case you forget code.

Big Al and Colleen arrived around 1:00 pm yesterday. After a brief visit, Colleen and I walked down to the Convention Centre to collect my registration package, {Stanchion man had some CAD work to do so he stayed behind.], and I signed my waiver at Lady Dar's booth! She is volunteering for GFA. She quite enjoyed giving me her spiel about waiver being a legal document, etc!

[Rear view love to all...heading to the park with Alex, Sam and Winston after a hot day in the Valley 38c]

We left her to collect my "goodies" and wandered through the booths of exhibitors, etc. Last one was a wine-tasting table featuring Bottle-Neck Drive wineries so I tasted almost everything that I wasn't familiar with. Even a Silk Scarf Pinot but, surprisingly, of all the whites, I think I enjoyed the Dirty Laundry Pinot Gris the mostl Loads of fun chatting with other riders and their wives so before we knew it, Lady Dar's shift was over and we drove back with her.

Very pleasant time on the patio, with wine and hors d'oeuvres before Big Al bbq'd steaks Mme Coriandre had picked up at Costco earlier in the week. Plenty more wine and then we started in on the hard stuff. Polished off the  last of the Slowpoke Naramata Sour Cherry Vodka as Colleen wanted to try it. Lady Dar wanted Black Widow Port, 2013, when we moved to malt, Talisker Distiller's Edition so only an anaemic 45%!

[Dermot Shirley Did you ride with that hat?] Lazy sleep-in this morning and Volunteer Woman left, just before 9:00 am, for her last GF shift. Over at 2:00 pm and we'll probably do some tasting afterwards. When we've had breakfast here, we'll stroll down to the Farmer's Market. Unfortunately, has been raining fairly heavily so not the nicest of days for vendors, etc., although forecast now predicts only sun and clouds until more showers around 4:00 pm.

Must away as I'm in charge of breakfast. Hello from the Sunshine Valley Freeloaders! Cheers, Patrizzio. Pics: Sunflower Flower Child; Waiver Desk; Patio People! Big Al talking business!

Hi, Time to get out some info about next Thursday’s hike. We are hoping to conquer hedge’s Butte. Here’s the plan: -meet at 0800 at Home hardware north parking lot. -carpool and make our way up Green Mountain Road to our starting point -hike up Hedge’s Butte from the west side, and come down on the east side. This will require a vehicle drop. -convene at a suitable spot for a wrap up. I don’t as yet have permission to cross some private land, but I am hopeful that there will be no problem in getting it. So, these plans are subject to change. Due to the sensitive nature of the terrain and the uncertainty of the route, I will limit the group to a maximum of 12 folks. Please let me know via return email at your earliest convenience if you are planning to join us. Cheers, Jim

Patrizzio! Greetings back from down under! Sorry we have been so silent, life seems to get in the way of these sorts of things. We have been a bit busy - I started a new job 2 months ago (no more commuting to Christchurch) at Scion, the Forest Research Institute, and Gemma has been working on a big genetics project. In between, we have been trying to escape for weekends away to explore more of NZ. We should be back in BC at Christmas, so hopefully you will be around and we can come visit! [I guess it didn't like me. Sandee]
