Back to the Big Smoke Blues: Friday, July 15th!

Patrick it seems to me you and Corinne were going to be in Vancouver for the Folk Festival. We are here and hopefully you will have time for a visit. Would love to hear from you. Dawn

Alan Waldron
Alan Waldron Hey that's that Gan Fondo dude! He killed it last weekend!!

Hello Donna Maria and Heraldo! Wonderful to hear from you! We'd love to get together. Busy weekend, as you can imagine. We are here with Jos and Aarturo, friends from Summerland, staying with close friends, Elaine and Ted, on Bayswater, 2295, and 7th. Given session times and performers we'd like to catch, Sunday morning would seem the best opportunity which presents itself. Unless you are up for a drink this evening. We won't be staying to the "bitter end" for the Main Stage as we prefer, in most instances, the small stages which don't run much after 9:00 pm, or could be earlier, depending on your schedule, etc. That being said, it wouldn't be a very late night, for us any way, (perhaps not you booze hounds!), in any event as same gerbil-wheel starts again Sunday morning!

Please text Cora Lee or Chloë so that we can make some arrangements. Must away as we have to bike to Jericho. Talks soon, one way or another! Cheers, Patrizzio! PS: Please send me your phone number!

Thanks Patrick and no worries about the KVR ride as others going are having difficulty with the date too so not sure what we will do. You will be glad to know that the only way I recognized you in the bike event on Sunday were the pink shorts…..I had asked my first aid partner to watch for that and sure enough there you were……congratulations on finishing Patrick!

I attended one serious injury on Hwy 97 along Vasauex Lake where a rider hit the cement barrier along the lake and smashed his helmet and damaged his bike. He had mild concussion and lots of bruises and scrapes so we called for an ambulance then patched him up with our first aid kits. I loaded his expensive bike into my truck and handed it off to the pickup crews who also were on the circuit. In any case he turned out fine without any serious repercussions from his injuries but was out of the event for the day. Our crew attended several other incidents the worst being a broken hip or pelvis along HT 97 towards Summerland but I was not on any of those incidents. Cheers…. Kilian

Next Monday Chuck is going to lead us up the hills from Trepanier Rd in Peachland. So we will be leaving the IGA parking lot in Summerland at 9am and Pentictonites can carpool at 8:40 at Home Hardware. Coffee or beer at Blue Rooster afterwards! Pam

Patrick -- Thank you for writing the future with youth aging out of foster care.
Please forward this email on to others who may want to sign or share on Facebook and Twitter Vancouver Foundation http://www.fosteringchange.ca/

Here's the full petition:

Most young adults in BC can count on financial support, relationships and family connections to help them get a good start in life. However, that’s not the case for everyone.

Cut off from support at 19, youth aging out of foster care too often end up homeless, don’t finish high school, and have no one to turn to in their 20’s.
But you can change this.

Sign the petition today, and help write the future with youth aging out of foster care.

“We believe youth aging out of foster care should be able to count on three things until age 25:
  1. Consistent financial support with basic living costs like housing, transit, and food while they attend school, learn skills, and find work.
  2. Long-term relationships with caring dependable adults for support, advice, and references, so that they always have somewhere to turn.
  3. A chance to connect and contribute to their communities through creative, cultural, and volunteer   activities, so that they feel like they belong.
We believe this will make a difference, and ask community, political, and business leaders to commit to a plan that includes these supports.”
