Every eighteen months, the minimum IQ necessary to destroy the world drops by one point. -Eliezer S. Yudkowsky, researcher (b. 11 Sep 1979)

Patrick James Dunn Congratulations Rachael! All the best! Onward! Much love and cheers, Uncle Patrizzio! With Dell and Nick, grandson, Dawn and Aunt Corinne, this afternoon. They drove down from Kelowna, where Nick is attending UBC, Engineering, for Farmer's Market and then lunch at our place.

G’day Pat, I can see from your blog that you’ve been a busy boy with the axe! Good luck with your surgery on Thursday – hope you won’t be off your biking/hiking for too long as I’ll have nothing to read!

Tina’s Mum is in slow decline as her cancer squeezes the life out of her – such a sad, sad time for all of us particularly Tina. She has been an absolute Trojan in the way she has cared for her Mum over these last few months. My Dad continues to deteriorate; physically he is quite strong (well as strong as a 94 year old with dementia can be) but his mind has almost completely gone. The only person he really recognises is Mum and that is only some of the time.

Weather here in Adelaide has been beautiful for the past week or so but today and the early part of the coming week is back to winter – coldish and wet. Not complaining mind you because in a month or two it will be stinking hot and dry! We’ll be thinking of you on Thursday. Fondestos to Corinne. Ooroo for now Trevor

Hello Witless Vittorio and Patrizzio The Wiser Twin! We are having dinner with Whirlygig and Calamity Jane on Monday evening so I suggest you pop by, [3rd and Balsam. Don't have the exact address at moment but will have it when next we are in touch.] Being that you are  becoming a Grade A Freeloader, I'm sure you'd be welcome for dinner as well. Anyway, we'll chat before to pass along address. Give Lady Dar a call, Sunday evening, as we will be staying with Stanchion Man and Marilynin Burnaby that night, or else during the day on Monday. We'll be staying, in Kits, me for Monday/Tuesday nights, Lady Dar for two more sleeps, Wednesday/Thursday if I'm discharged on Friday, will more close friends, Elaine and Ted, just across the street from the new school there.

I don't know Oliver well enough to suggest a place to stay but I would highly recommend Spirit Ridge in Osoyoos, just twenty minutes or so south. Rates are usually reasonable and accommodation is terrific, two pools, hot tubs, steam room and great view. Restaurant and winery on site plus one on way to resort itself. Loads more wineries up 97 towards Oliver and along Black Sage Road. I'll give you more detailed information when you bring flowers to my hospital bed!

Must away as it's dinner time and then a host of last minutes things to attend to tonight and then tomorrow morning before we head into Vancouver, around noon. Chloƫ will be staying to take care of Etta and Duke, our new kittens. Any recipes for feline, Patrizzio the Chef? Fondestos from her and Lady Dar to you both. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pics: Al Tinka, the founder of the hiking group I've joined, had a gathering last night at his place in Summerland. With all the firewood I'd been muling, from Spiller, earlier, we didn't manage to arrive until 6:30 pm and rest of guests had already departed. Still, we had a grand time sipping and chatting around the cosy fire-pit. He has over 100 fruit trees, (apples, pears, peaches, plums, cherries, etc.),  and although all his plums had been picked he brought me a box, from his neighbour's orchard, this morning. Just finished putting them in the new dehydrator. Did a batch, a month or so ago, from friend Jugos Dom Pedro, in Naramata, and they were absolutely delicious. Another friend distills them and makes incredible Grappa! Life is tough in The Okanagan! Pics: Lady Dar waiting for a glass of Quinta Ferreira Syrah. Big Bad Al; processing plums!
