Day 8, Post-Op Indomethacin (Teva) 25mg Blues: Thursday, September 22nd!

The characteristic of a well-bred man is, to converse with his inferiors without insolence, and with his superiors with respect and with ease. -Lord Chesterfield, statesman and writer (22 Sep 1694-1773)

Beloved Sharktooth Annie would have celebrated her 103rd birthday today! Hip Hip Hooray, Mother! Smile upon Your Perfect Son! For She's a Jolly Good Fellow! Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray! For Nobody Can Deny!!!

Hi Pat & Corrine. I will be visiting my mom and sister in Vernon soon. My brother & sister-in -law, Darryl & Shirley from Winnipeg will be there, too. Are you up for an overnight visit by moi on my way back home on October 2nd? Let me know. See you then or another time. A visit here will definitely have to happen in Spring or later as the renovations will be progressing skowly. Talk soon. Warm regards, Lynette I seem to not have a correct email address for Corinne as it bounced back. Please send. Thanks

Hi Renno Woman! You are more than welcome to stay overnight on Sunday, October 2nd. Be happy to catch up. Please send along best wishes to Shirley and Daryl. Would like to have seen them this past June when in Falcon but time simply seemed to evaporate! For Lady Dar's email address, you have two "r's" in "Corinne" instead of two "n's"! Blame Dusty for spelling as that is how he put it on birth certificate! Look forward to seeing you, Lynette! Fondestos, from Lady Dar, Etta and Duke. Cheers, Patrizzio! So glad to hear your recovery is going so well. Your determination helps a great deal; I'm sure. Thanks for photos. You have very good looking cats! See you in a few weeks. Love Lynette

Hi Donna Maria and Heraldo! Trust you are continuing to heal, my Dearest Dawn! Just heard, via Chloƫ, that Heraldo is fine! Very pleased to hear that, of course. I must apologize for not replying to your message of August 27th but time just seemed to evaporate. Of course, we were disappointed not to have had a visit but glad all turned out as well as it did. We will be heading back into Vancouver in a few weeks. First time will be in mid-October to volunteer for the VWF and then in early November for my 6 week follow-up appointment with my hip surgeon, Clive Duncan. We'll know our travel schedule once things settle down a bit here, with recovery process, etc. Be great if we overlap so keep us posted. I am close to using a cane so cannot complain about recovery progress. Fondestos to you both, from Lady Dar, and especially to Donna Maria from Etta and Duke! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pic: Peach Woman at work! Swedish Twins brought us a box from Keremeos. Lady Dar now has a stall at Farmer's Market! Hi again, Donna Maria and Heraldo! No rest for the wicked! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Jessica Jones, Patrizzio The Younger and Vittorino! Thanks again for wonderful, wonderful visit! Glad wedding went so well. Fondestos to one and all from Lady Dar. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello Patrick Just wanted to let you know:

"We are sad to announce the passing of Bob MacDonald, a long-time UBC Librarian who passed away on September 7. Bob started at the Library in 1965 as the first Systems Analyst and went onto become the Assistant Librarian for the Technical Processing and Systems Division. He left UBC in 1991 to help launch the Open Learning Agency and the Electronic Library project before retiring. Tracey Douglas, who reported to Bob with she first started at UBC, remembers him as “someone with a great vision of how emerging technologies could be integrated into library systems. He was always pushing the edge of what technologies could be used on campus, such as installing public terminals and providing remote access to certain databases. He was really ahead of his time in imagining what libraries could become”.

Bob’s obituary, published in the Vancouver Sun this past weekend, adds:

“Bob's passion was sailing; summers were spent boating the coast and Gulf Islands with family and friends aboard Eliris and Tashee. Winters were spent in Whistler, skiing and endlessly making improvements to the family cabin on Crabapple Drive. Bob was known as someone who could fix or build anything, from building his first house on 43rd Avenue in Vancouver, to renovations on the family home at 26th and Hudson. Other passions including golfing with good friends, and bird hunting trips to Alberta with his trusty Labrador Retriever…. There are no words to describe how heartbroken we are at losing our husband and father. No service is planned”.

Thought you may have known him. Hope you are well. Jo-Anne Hi Jo-Anne! Trust you are well. Thanks for forwarding notice of Bob Macdonald's death but I did receive the notice via Lib-Emeritus list. I really liked Bob and had the greatest respect for him. He was a "gentleman" as the obituary notes.

Fondestos to you and Colin, from Lady Dar! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Had to go to see my family doctor today as I felt that I was having some noticeable side-effects from a drug that had been prescribed for ten days following release from hospital. Had taken a "trial" dosage in April and no adverse effects at all. Thought it was better to be safe than sorry, however. Doctor has ordered an ultra-sound to make sure I have not developed a blood clot, (s), in my left leg as I have some swelling, (one of side-effects), but otherwise nothing but a headache and some dizziness when I first get out of bed. Again, a number of the side-effects noted. She felt pretty sure that there was nothing to worry about so we shall see what we shall see. Feeling very well in spite of what I've mentioned and trust "everything" will go away now that I've discontinued this particular medicine.

Hi again, Mama T! We live on Burns Street, off Eckhardt, two streets before Government.  Cheers, Patrizzio! Ah was it Heparin? Glad to hear things are ok. It's usually prescribed to prevent post op blood clots. Grant had to give sub q injections in his tummy both times. Usually it's short term ie 14 days so hopefully things are good. T
