Post-Morita Blues: Friday, March 18th!

When an individual is protesting society's refusal to acknowledge his dignity as a human being, his very act of protest confers dignity on him. -Bayard Rustin, civil rights activist (17 Mar 1912-1987)

Hi Ragin'! Sorry not to have replied sooner. We were not in town when you sent message as we left on Monday. Whirlygig and Calamity, along with Morita, his Border Collie, arrived about 6:00 pm that day. We had a lovely visit, riding with Giorgio on Tuesday to OK Falls. Amira, Giggster's daughter, drove down from Kamloops that afternoon, to stay overnight, and have dinner with hiking friends, Jos and Aarturo.

On Wednesday Jane joined us on the KVR. Can hop on it just at the top of our street and we rode all the way to the so-called small tunnel, about 18 km. Some stunning views above Naramata. The climb is steady but very manageable as it is only about a 2% grade. Did a bit of wine-tasting, (Poplar Grove and Upper Bench), once back and showered/changed. The owners, Shana and Gavin, of latter, were there and we had a great time visiting with them. Shana makes a variety of extraordinary cheese so she was wearing her working gear. They have two Border Collies themselves and Morita played with them, chasing each other through their vineyards! The winery was just about to close but they stayed open for us. Celebrated Calamity's birthday that evening.

Yesterday they joined me and regular hiking group on a snow-shoe outing at Apex. Was simply magical. First time Morita had been in snow and she was beside herself, as you might imagine, dashing back and forth, stepping on the backs of people's snowshoes, "attacking" every small stump, beside the narrow trail, that poked up through the snow! They were planning to leave yesterday afternoon but decided to spend another night, (Typical Freeloaders!), so they prepared a delicious meal and we gave Calamity her first bridge lesson. Loads of fun all around. They left around 10:00 am this morning and might stay a night, on way back, depending on timing, weather, etc.

I talked to Chloë this morning and told her that you had successfully upgraded her computer. (Thank you for this, it goes without saying!) Here is her phone number, (Branimir lives on 12th, Chloë), and since I've included her in this message, I'll let the two of you decide what might work for her to pop by and collect the laptop. If you don't mind, perhaps you could make a few suggestions about how best to "manage" various applications, open browsers, etc., as noted by you, when we brought computer by. I know, from talking to her, that some of it was a direct result of the failing system but I'm sure any helpful tips would be appreciated.

Lady Darjeeling is now back from yoga and, after a bite of lunch, will head out to do a bit of grocery shopping. We are playing bridge with friends, Jos and Pam, from hiking group, on Sunday, and she is charged with dessert. Not sure if I'll go for a ride or do a bit more work on splitting some of the remaining rounds of wood. Maybe I can do both! Anyway, good to have chatted with you. As I mentioned, I'll be in touch about our visit on the 29th as soon as we have decided how long we will stay in Vancouver. Thanks again. Cheers, Il Conduttore/Patrizzio/Dad!

Hi Pauline! Thanks again for the wonderful stay! Enjoyed the visit immensely.
I talked to Chloë this morning and asked her if she might pop by your place, to collect what I left behind, when she is over in Kits to pick up her successfully upgraded computer, from Branko. If schedules don't allow, we can always come by to fetch the stuff on back porch, as you mentioned. Anyway, thanks again, to you both, for your generous hospitality. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Yes will organize something with Chloe.  We have done that section of the KVR and really enjoyed it.  Stopped for lunch in the deli in penticton one time.

Hi Morita and Company! Trust drive went well and you are safely and warmly ensconced, readying yourselves for more snow outings!

Thanks so much for the lovely card and warm sentiments, not to mention the terrific visit! Lady Dar discovered the hootch on the back patio so now you have to return for at least a night! You should have taken it along but extremely generous, of course. Must away as I have to vacuum dog hair! Fondestos from Lady Dar. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Jane and George (& Amira), Hope you had a great snow-shoe and a good trip back. Was nice meeting you, look forward to another occasion! Cheers, Aart & Jos Dronkers
