Grandmothers for Africa Bridge Blues: Friday, March 4th!

It took less than an hour to make the atoms, a few hundred million years to make the stars and planets, but five billion years to make man! -George Gamow, physicist and cosmologist (4 Mar 1904-1968)

Hi Patrizzzziozo, Great picks, commentary & detailed story with 1 mistake, unknown to you. It actually took us over 6 hours to do our fairly hard core climb, but we did reach the summit of Dividend! Build some bridges this morning with your (new) partner, the beautiful and serene Jossefoss, Cheers, Aarturo

Hi Aarturo! Glad you enjoyed Apex dispatch! Josefina did tell me about your "ordeal"! Obviously, your stellar physical condition payed dividends putting you atop Dividend! Congratulations! Bravo indeed!

Jos played exceedingly well at the most enjoyable fund raiser. We had a lovely time, both playing cards and meeting all sorts of others there. Cora Lee helped serve food. Some terribly delicious soups, biscuits and a very tasty chicken chili. Didn't even have any dessert, (although I understood everything was delish as well), I was so full after my earlier helpings!

Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday. Fondestos to you and my "beautiful and serene" new bridge partner from Lady Dar, ensconced in The Rumpus Room, watching The Young and the Rest of Us! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello Patrick, Thanks for the nice compliments and your patience dear bridge partner.I learned a lot today and as you can see in the pictures, I kept smiling.
Looking forward to another game of bridge on Sunday. Really enjoyed your snowshoe fiction and well captured moments. Also...Thanks to Corrine and kitchen staff for the delicious soups Jos.

Hi there Here is my Winnipeg flight info:

Ms. Ayn Lenore Prince Flight Los Angeles (LAX)-Edmonton (YEG),Edmonton (YEG)-Winnipeg (YWG),Winnipeg (YWG)-Calgary (YYC),Calgary (YYC)-Los Angeles (LAX)

Hello Jet-Setter Tinsel Towner et al! Thanks for flight info as this will enable us to start planning our driving trip. Please buy copious amounts of single malt when you are bopping through both Edmonton and Calgary so that there will be plenty of hootch for the elves this coming Christmas with visitors from Penticton! I trust you and Winnie have been busy following the traveling political road show! Is Winston a Green Party member? Does that mean he will bite anyone belonging to any political party? Love and Cheers, Dad/Patrizzio!

PS: We are off to a cocktail party tomorrow, hosted by Michelle Dunn, one of Nana's Flatlander Folk, but again, no relation! I've met more Dunns, here in Penticton, than I've ever met in my entire life!!!

Hi Teens! Sounds as if you have been busy. Enjoyed hearing about the authors at the Adelaide Writers Week. Not sure if Lady Dar knows any of them. I'm saving the rice whiskey until Whirlygig and Calamity arrive on March 14th. They will follow us back to Penticton after we spend the weekend in Vancouver. Both of them enjoy malt so thought I'd enjoy your gift with them. Will let you know what everyone thinks!

Went on a fabulous snow-shoe trek yesterday. My first time ever and was kicking myself that I'd not tried activity sooner! Must away as I've to collect my Brodie at Freedom. Just had new, wider mountain bike tires put on to enable me to ride KVR. Fondestos to you and Trev from Lady Dar. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pics: Bridge today! I think you met Marian, on the left, last pic, as she is in hiking group, along with Tim, her husband, as well.

Hi Jean! Prine concert sounded wonderful indeed! So did dinner! Fondestos to you and John, from Cora Lee. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello Spirit Ridgers! Trust you are both well. We are certainly looking forward to visiting. You might want to rescind your invitation, however, once you learn we'd like to stay for two nights, Saturday and Sunday! Flamin' and Sarge suggested this and we are pleased to do this if you are comfortable with that. Just let us know and we'll plan accordingly. Apparently, their suite is next door to yours! As well, you are both invited for dinners on Sat/Sun if you are interested/free. I'm hoping/planning to ride to Osoyoos, weather permitting. Lady Darjeeling will drive, bringing cases and cases of wine!

Looking forward to seeing you and perhaps playing bridge as Sarge is a keen player. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!

The b&b dates are open. Just let us know, and come and pick up your key. Sandee Opened this today.....such great pictures. Yes, we are very happy to have you folks for those days. Sounds perfect. Our weather here has been improving; we even golfed yesterday. Sandee played bridge today; getting practise, awaiting your arrival. Still working on reading the books I have here......so would never got to yours....but thanks anyway. Ha. Just too much to do; instead of sitting, but did a little today; waiting for the wife to finish her bridge time. Now; have to go again.....no, not potty; but errands......As ever, Sandee & Arv Hugs for everyone.....

Dear Spirit Ridge Luxury Apartments! Thank you for your confirmation of our bookings for the nights of Saturday, March 26th and Sunday, March 27th! However, we'd appreciate an upgrade to the Presidential Suite and expect an expensive selection of local wines and cheeses in the mini-bar. Lady Darjeeling is preparing a list of other demands and I will forward these as soon as she has formulated them!

In exchange, Mme Sondra, Bridge Fiend Extraordinaire, we would be prepared to bring along a wide selection of books for your much abused and vilified husband, languishing while you play endless games of cards. Please leave two keys with Clan Sutherland if we cannot check-in until after 3:00 pm on Saturday. Lady Darjeeling will be taking the Rolls and expects to make her grand entrance around this time. I have been instructed to ride, towing her considerable baggage behind my bike, so I anticipate the pleasure of your wonderful, prairie company around 5:00 pm! Until next we meet, or correspond, I remain, as always, yer ever so 'umble and obedient factotum, Patrizzio!

Hi Colin and Jo-Anne! Sounds as if you have been busy following the traveling road show down south! Enjoyed the "historic election"! Looking forward to seeing you next Thursday. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Very hard to kick yourself when wearing snowshoes - one just ends up on one's ass in a snow bank. Hi Colin! Couldn't have put it any better! The only thing that prevented that from happening is the fact that I'm simply not flexible enough to inflict such self-injury. One advantage to being so stiff and creaky! Must away as I need to open another bottle of red. Lady Dar just polished off the last of the 2013 Moraine Malbec, 13.3%, a fairly new winery on the Naramata Bench. Terrific drop. Think I'll open a 2012 Babio, (Thanks again for introducing us to this wonderful winery!), as I just picked up a case on Tuesday. Have you tried this vintage? Cheers, Patrizzio!

PatriƧio, Sorry to take so long to respond, but it’s been a tough few weeks health wise. Hey, don’t complain about Lady Dar taking the Bus to Vancouver!  That’s the cheapest option short of walking.  She could have taken a private flight!

Recently, I went into Afib for long periods of time, and got cardioverted twice in one week. This is a process where they wire you up like the Bride of Frankenstein and zap you with electricity.  Of course, nowadays they don’t need to wait for the lighting bolt - they have a machine.  They actually stop your heart and restart it to a normal rhythm. They knock you out of course, but it’s still tough on the bod.

Then last Monday, I woke up about 8:30am with the nosebleed of the year.  3 hours later it was still flowing, so off to ER where they crammed a large (inflatable) plug up my nose.  Did I mention how painful that is?  No sleep for the next two nights.  As a bonus, I missed my cardiologist appointment.  Got to get off that blood thinner.

Sadly, the legal matters are not improving, but Michael is running out of options.  He now has the Public Guardian and Trustee involved alleging my father’s assets are at "immediate and urgent" risk.  I better get on that plane to Vegas while I still have a chance.  I don’t think this will go anywhere, but it does have an effect on my health, not to mention my wallet.
Aren’t you glad you asked?

ANYWAY, we talked doing some more construction at some point.  We should revisit this when the snow tire requirement is lifted (all-seasons are no longer allowed on hwy 3/97c in the winter).  Maybe I will bring my bike this time and follow you around for part of your ride.

Finally, I heard this interview on CBC while driving.  There’s this kid in Victoria, who uses the GPS on his bicycle so the route draws a picture.  His best one is a giraffe.  He is known as “Cycleangelo”.  Since you love “dipsy-doodling” this could be right up your alley! http://www.cbc.ca/player/play/2684797818

Maybe I will bring my bike this time and follow you around for part of your ride. cheers//bjp

Hello Ragin' Torrent et al! Sorry to hear about your cardiac and blood problems! Sounds as if you have been "assaulted" from all sides, clinical and legal. Time you came to a retreat in the Okanagan where one just drifts from winery to brewery to distillery, without a care in the world. Don't worry about snow tires. Take a private jet. Lady Dar liked your suggestion and had enough Air Miles to have a Lear on constant stand-bye! (Can you guess how many pairs of shoes that took?) Let us know when a visit is convenient and I'll buy some saw blades for my chop saw!

Not sure if your blood problems have affected your mental state but you didn't comment on the questions I raised regarding the possible upgrade to ChloĆ«'s laptop. As well, you repeated yourself: "Maybe I will bring my bike this time and follow you around for part of your ride." Were you simply emphasizing "part" or suffering from lack of oxygen to the brain? Please advise on both counts! Cheers, Patrizzio!
