Back Patio Steps Bridge Lesson Blues: Wednesday, February 3rd!

Writers, like teeth, are divided into incisors and grinders. -Walter Bagehot, journalist and businessman (3 Feb 1826-1877)
To a poet, silence is an acceptable response, even a flattering one. -Colette, author (28 Jan 1873-1954)

Up at just after 7:00 am as I had enjoyed a deep sleep and felt ready to start the day. Mug of java and I headed into the study to begin digitating. Not quite as crisp this morning, I noted, when I took out the re-cycling from under the kitchen sink. Not much frost on the car's windshield and as I scribe I can see the still covered patio steps through the sliding door. Tarps are frost-free as well. Once things warm up, probably mid-morning, Dusty and I will begin screwing the planks into place. Everything is ready, holes pre-drilled and screws inserted for relative ease of access in awkward spots, for this final stage so trust all will go as planned and we'll be able to christen the long-awaited steps!

Hello Harbour Terace Freeloaders! Thanks again, from all of us for such a lovely, lovely visit! Apologize for not being in touch sooner. Too, too busy trying to keep up with Dusty! Anyway, must away, as we are planning to put a fresh air vent in the study wall. Dusty is concerned that the house does not have any intake source to feed the in-house vacuum, bathroom fans and fireplace. Lady Dar is walking with The Flatlanders. Please send more carrot cake, JT! Thanks again for splendid lunch! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Next Monday fearless Al is going to lead us up the southern flank of Fire Mountain, near Okanagan Falls. So we are going to leave Home Hardware in Penticton at 9am. Summerlanders can carpool at 8:40 from the IGA parking lot. The hike will last 3 hours and then we will convene for coffee at Opus (likely). Pam

Hey Paprika!  The idea is that I will eventually make some money but lots of expenses to start. Bruno says once I am certified and start selling houses, he indeed does get to buy a new bottle of single malt for each sale, so you are welcome to come freeloading off us too!  You guys are amazing, especially Dusty with all he does around the house at his age. Can't wait to see you all in July. Give our love to all!  Xoxo

Hi Patrick, I had no problem opening Flickr and finding the photos.  Your home projects seem like ambitious undertakings but you are lucky to have good help.  Quickly shop at Rona before Lowes takes it over!  The purchase sounds imminent. I surpassed your 114 kph as I darted  north and purchased new skis in Kelowna, hit Costco, Home Depot and Michaels before returning home.  See you Monday.

Thanks for the update Patrick and the heads up about Cuffed - I was just talking with someone yesterday about whether it was happening or not. I had not heard anything after the Rankin appearance in November. It looks like the programme is not up on their site yet. They had better hurry up as it is only 6 weeks away. Busy folks like us get booked up eh?

One way or another, let's try and connect when you are in town. Glad to hear you will be at the Scotch Tasting as well. We will see you there for sure. We are talking about a visit to the Okanagan in May/June. Let us know when you will be around when you schedule comes into focus. We have 2 nights at Tinhorn Creek and my sister and her partner have just bought a condo in Kelowna. We'll be checking to see if and when she will be there. See you soon....Paul

Dear Family & Friends, It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our dear Gramma Pam.  She was an amazing woman and if you knew Gramma Pam you may want to have a look at the video of photos that is on the website.  There are 100 photos of different events over her beautiful 94 years.  Online condolences will be printed off into a book with the photos so if you are far away and would like to leave a message for Mom and Dad or Auntie Robin and Uncle Clayton I know they would appreciate it.

I have added the “Hallmark” messages from the cards that have been received so far.  Thank you so much to those of you who were able to come on Saturday.  Your support was appreciated.

If you view the photos, and wonder why they children are lying on the grass beside the grave at night here is the story.  We went back to the graveyard around 8pm to send Chinese lanterns off into the heavens.  The children said goodbye and as the last lantern went they all decided to lie down in a row and say their last goodbyes and watch the lights burn out.  Then just before we left, I think Corben decided to run back to the grave and he pushed his hands in the soil and then all the other came running over and did the same.  The next day, Mom and I went back to fix the flowers to make sure they would not blow away in the winds we often get.  The hand prints were awesome and the dew on the roses was beautiful.  Snow was on the mountains and it was quiet.  Peaceful.

If you have photos of Gramma please share them online if you can.  I have tried to add some to the guest book but seem to get errors.  If you have difficulty, you can email them directly to Angela and I am sure she will add them for you.  She has been super helpful!
