Paint Can Varathane Blues: Thursday, January 21st!

The gods of the valley are not the gods of the hills. -Ethan Allen, revolutionary (21 Jan 1738-1789)

Up at 8:30 am as I had to clean the ashes out of the fireplace. Dusty was in a hurry to start a fire so after scooping out the fire box I dumped the residue into the compost bin and then took it outside to keep the worms warm!  Back inside to attend to two niggling chores. A week or so ago I attached our Dust Buster to the wall in the front entrance-way. Quite convenient to vacuum up ashes and bits of wood in front of the fireplace. However, I wanted to put a few fasteners on the wires from the outlet to the unit itself, to keep them tidy along the top of the baseboard. Found the plastic fasteners when I was looking for something else so was happy to chalk this off the list. Next I tightened a number of the pull handles on the drawers under the kitchen island. Had been meaning to do this for months so pleased that I finally managed to get around to this nagging chore!

By the time all of this had been accomplished Lady Dar had cooked me a delish breakfast, bacon, scrambled eggs and some fried potatoes. Great way to ready myself for the shelving work awaiting in the garage. Yesterday, Dusty and I had built the overhead frame, and supports, to carry the shelving from the house wall to the the garage wall, over the door and window onto the patio. Extremely pleased with that part of the construction and even more pleased with the shelving we put against the garage wall. Spaced the shelves so that a large paint can fits on each level. Once this part of the unit was finished I took all the cans, (most of them left by last owners), and arranged them neatly on the new shelves and was pleased as punch with the result. This is literally the first time that we have been able to have a completely unobstructed view into the patio. Ever since we moved in the work surface has been piled with the paint cans mentioned above as well as all sorts of other boxes from the move.

The garage is finally starting to take shape and, among other things, it will be far easier to sort through the boxes yet unpacked. Tomorrow we will work on the shelving we intend to attach to the opposite end of the work surface under the window. Lady Dar has already claimed this space as her gardening table. Until then, I plan to use it to sort through all my tools and the numerous boxes of hardware I brought from The Islay Inn that are so jumbled that it almost impossible to find something even though I know I have it somewhere! Onward!! Fight!!!

Film Jimmy's Hall!

hi Patrick, thanks for the nice pictures, i have not been out hiking with the group in a while, i guest i have to make a point of getting out on Monday as we are of to Mexico for 2 weeks on the Jan 31. i have however been hiking approx. twice a week all winter with a outing yesterday to the top of Jerry mountain, a great hike.  since we moved into our home on Oct. 1 we had a lot of work done, the biggest job was redoing our en-suite, we took the tub our, push the wall back 3 and a half feet and had a walk in shower put in. 3 and a half by 5 ft. and all  large tile on the walls  so there is less grout to clean and easy to clean up after a shower, just use a squeegee a few strokes and your done. we also had a light installed in the shower and a new bathroom fan installed along with a few other jobs. the contractor we had did a great job and we are more then happy with his work, we also had this guy do work for us in the pass and he did a great job at that time. you mention some time back that you wanted to have a carport build. i don't know where you are at this time if you all ready got the ball rolling on your project or if you are looking for some quotes. anyway i thought i at least give you his name and cell number --------    dave borshine     i trust you are doing well and i look forward to seeing you on the trail soon. thanks   karl

Hi Patrick, I've attached a copy of the approval and estimate to this email as per our discussion. I have you booked with Dr.Jung on Thursday February 4, 2016 at 3:00pm for the upper left side. I noticed on your chart that you need pre-medication before having dental work done. Please let me know if you have any pre-med at home, or if you would like  me to have Dr. Jung write up a prescription. Sincerely, -- Jessie

Hi again, I just wanted to let you know that I had to move your appointment time up one hour to 2:00pm on Thursday February 4, 2016 in order to give Dr. Jung enough time to complete your treatment. Disregard my previous email and your estimate, as they have the time listed as 3:00pm. Thanks Patrick!

Hello Jessie! Thank you very much for sending along the PBC information and booking the appointment on Thursday, February 4th, at 2:00 pm. I do have a number of pre-medication pills but will need another prescription, at some time, for further appointments, as more dental work is scheduled. Thanks again for all your help. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Aart suggested that for next Monday we go to White Lake and hike around the knoll. Great suggestion! Without snow this takes about 3 hours. With snow it could be more like 4 hours but it's easy, mostly flat. So we will leave Home Hardware in Penticton at 9 am. Summerlanders can carpool leaving the IGA parking lot at 8:40. See you then! Pam
