Township 7 Jack Rabbit Blues: Friday, May 27th!

You may call God love, you may call God goodness. But the best name for God is compassion. -Meister Eckhart, theologian (c. 1260-1327)

Just sitting at a fabulous bistro beside an Abby in the middle of nowhere, about 26 degrees, and our pool is waiting for our return to the hotel! Incredible visit so far, with great people, countryside, and of course the food and wines. Weather near perfect, each stop superb so far.

Enjoyed some great Bordeaux wines while there, now some lovely Dordogne wines, also fabulous, at a fraction of the price. Bruno's wine ( from Bruno, Chief of Police, author Martin Walker) for under 7 euros delicious. Also able to take our own wines to restaurants in this region- what a bonus!

Last night was local pizza and salad on the terraces of a local family pizzeria, tonight a slightly upscale bistro a short walk from the hotel. Beautiful blends of merlot, cab franc etc, and even a 100% Tannat last night from just south of the region. Last night in Tremolat tonight, then Sarlat for 2 nights, before crossing over to Mediterranean and Cassis for 4 nights.

Will have a glass of digestive ( Montbazillac) for you later- the local dessert wine which is superb, and far less than the Bordeaux equivalents, ie Sauternes, Barsac etc...Well, we must have dessert and then a short drive to the pool....All the best to you all from France! Gregg & Francesca

Hi Lurch and Grogg, aka BYOB People! Terrific to hear from you and know all goes so swimmingly in France! The wines sound more than fabulous, as you describe so well, not to mention the food. What a delight that you can even take hootch to the restaurants. Talk about heaven! Brings back so many fond, fond memories of our time in Languedoc and on the Canal de Garonne with Flamin'/Sarge, et al, in 2013.

We had a very busy long-weekend with wall-to-wall Freeloaders! went well. Had a marvellous time with Zoe and Matt. [Kathleen and Stefano are to visit later this summer or September.] Along with tasting at other wineries we took them to the Orofino Pizza Pick-up Party on Saturday! Had a blast as Flamin' and Sarge, [They were up to stay at their place in Spirit Ridge.], were there as well. Terrific hike to Cartwright Mountain, out of Summerland, on Monday, Laidlaw Mountian, near Twin Lakes on 3A, yesterday and am off to ride with a number of hiking friends this morning, meeting at Township 7 to cycle Naramata Road. Daniello and Laurie are supposed to drop by this afternoon. We bumped into them at the Farmer's Market last Saturday. They have a place at Spirit Ridge as well. Fondestos from Lady Dar, still abed! Travel safely and take care of each other. Cheers, Patrizzio!

[Dany Ward Hi Patrick James Dunn. Almost three years and il still remember the bike ride with you. Don't forget. You are wellcome in my place if you come in Québec! Patrick James Dunn Hi Dany! How wonderful to hear form you! Will certainly be in touch when we next visit your fabulous province. Off to ride Naramata Road later this morning with a good friend, Bad Boy, aka as Ken, in the hiking group I've joined here in Penticton. Cheers, Patrizzio! Dany Ward Salutation mon ami cycliste!]

Pics: Bridge at Robson's Redoubt, last Tuesday, the home of hiking friends, Gilliana and Phillipo, off Spiller Road, well above Naramata Road. Spectacular view! Spamela, (flipping her hair), helped Gilliana as latter hadn't played for over forty years!

Rob, we've cancelled for 10am but if weather improves we may go later or at weekend. Patrick, here are Rob's phone #'s and Barb's as she is another interested road biker.

Hi Marian! Terrific that you and Tiny can join us on the 4th! Just wondering if you know when Famiglia Dronkers will return from the wilds? I gather there was snow on The Connector this morning. Perhaps they are camping in an igloo now! Enjoy your weekend! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Patrick, Thanks for that very interesting summary of the talk you heard. Wish we'd known about it. Scary stuff! As for Aart and Jos, I think they are probably back, as they told us before leaving that they would see us at mixed doubles tonight at 6:00 (provided of course, that the rain ceases and the sun comes out to dry up the courts). Do you know of any potential hike on Thursday? Cheers,
Marian

Hi Tripod Man, Sergeant Spumoni and Tia's Mom! Thanks again for stupendous hike and wonderful album, Tyrannosaurus! I was particularly interested to see the snap of the ants. Since you included it, I was wondering if you might forward it to Dr Higgins, (I'm sure Anthea could provide an email address.), as this might contribute to helping identify species in different parts of the province. Very, very little, relatively speaking, is known about the distribution of ants in the province and much comes, I gather, from being able to identify a given specimen in a given location so that we can better plan our campaign against the Marabunta readying themselves to invade the Okanagan's vineyards! Let them take the orchards and orchardists of Summerland!!! On that happy note, enjoy your weekend! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello Family Saga People! Trust all goes well and that plenty of Akvavit is keeping the cold at bay as you bone up on The Sagas of Icelanders! I've only made it as far as the 10th Century as we've been quite busy ever since the long-weekend. Consequently, I do apologize for not sending along this album sooner and thanking you both, [Particularly Money Bags Lynne!], for such a wonderful, wonderful evening. It was great good fun with the more than companionable company, Jennifer and John, Wendy and Rob. The food and drink, stellare, it goes without saying!

Sorry I missed you, Jugos, when you popped by. Thank you for the hootch and the lettuce. We had the latter in last night's salad and will have the former tonight, with dinner, when we watch episodes of Outlander and Luther. Must away as more Freeloaders, Laurie and Daniello, from Vancouver, friends of Flamin' and Sarge, with a place at Spirit Ridge as well, just rang the doorbell. They have been tasting on The Bench and are en route back to Osoyoos!

Travel safely and take care of each other. Fondestos from Lady Dar, toasting some scallops, wrapped in bacon, on the bbq, as I scribe. We had a shower, (It was raining fairly steadily most of the morning and into the early afternoon.), just before the guests arrived and now it is bright and sunny! Cheers, Patrizzio!

PS: 2015 Zwei Freunde Riesling is fabulous! I plan to break into your wine cellar tonight and will set up a booth at the Farmer's Market on Saturday. I'll make millions, open my own winery, go bankrupt, become an alcoholic, write a best seller about my struggle with the demon rum, go on talks shows once out of recovery, become a millionaire and start all over again! Onward!! Fight!!!

Pics: Bridge and sunset, Tuesday night, off Spiller Road, on the deck at Chez Robson.

Hi Janet! Great to see you at the bash! Thank you, so much, for being such a kind, considerate chauffeur, not to mention the snaps you sent along. So very pleased you were able to join us and help celebrate the day and help care for Ruthless! Fondestos from Lady Dar Take care of yourself, Janet. Cheers, Patrizzio!
