This pic was taken May 14, 1976 and it was a lovely time. When we got to Tofino the next day we ran into my Uncle Erich and Aunt Barbara at the hotel so I can confirm that they were at their favorite place 40 years ago today

This morning, Lady Dar had breakfast with good friend, Robyn, at GI, while Sarge and I rode out to UBC. Had a terrific outing but somehow we managed to get our wires crossed and I lost Sarge after I whizzed down Camosun to head back to UBC on Marine. He was behind me and thought I was making for Dunbar. He only wanted to be out for two hours or so and planned to make for home by this time. Although I turned around, coming back against traffic, both bike and vehicular, we never reconnected. I rode back up Camosun just in case he was near St George's but to no avail. Knew he's be fine so dipsy-doodled my way back to UBC and then home. Map and Stats for ride:

Lady Dar was there but Sarge, though back, was running a few errands. When he returned he whipped up a tasty lunch for everyone. Well set for the coming festivities, around 1:30 pm, Sarge drove us over to Wall Street. When we arrived quite a few guests were pulling up in front so the fun started right away.
Chloë had readied all of the snacks and nibbles so everyone took a plate or two, a bottle or five, and we elevatored to the roof top patio where the gathering was to take place. Day was absolutely perfect so weather cooperated just for us! We had printed out the following notice and Chloë had posted a few around the building:
My parents, (Corinne and Patrick), will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary on Saturday, May 14th, here, between 2:00-5:00 pm. Just to let you know, for part of this time we will be having drinks and appetizers on the roof patio so please feel free to join us if you are there, enjoying the view, sun-tanning or otherwise relaxing! Had a wonderful time visiting/catching up with everyone, speechifying and just generally, good naturedly abusing and being abused, you know the drill! Around 5:30 pm people started to say goodbye and we gathered up what remained of the food and hootch and returned to Chloë's loft to rest up for dinner. Janet and Ruth/Rick joined us and we walked around the corner to enjoy a terrific dinner at Bistro Wagon Rouge, a spot we'd eaten at a couple of times before so knew it was a great place. After dinner the Squamoids made for home and Janet very kindly drove us back to The Heartbreak Terrace as she had been very careful about how much she drank, unlike the rest of us!

Hi Corinne and Patrick--Here's the menu for Petey's 70th birthday celebration on the 19th. Legend Distillery made me an offer I couldn't refuse for a specially-catered dinner at their location. As well, the resto at Hillside (which was my choice for dinner) is hosting a private function that evening and could not take us. Could you please make your choices and get back to me by Monday. (I know it looks like a lot of food, but the chef has promised me that the servings will not be too large and we won't leave feeling like the Christmas turkey!) BTW, you are all my guests for dinner as you would have been if we'd had the party at home … which just wasn't going to happen due to other plans, commitments, etc.
