Day 36, Post-Op Shelter Point Blues: Friday, October 21st!

If you would stand well with a great mind, leave him with a favorable impression of yourself; if with a little mind, leave him with a favorable impression of himself. -Samuel Taylor Coleridge, poet, and philosopher (21 Oct 1772-1834)

Rambunctious Boy will dispel any thoughts of "cuteness", believe me. He wanted to shred your mother's delicate tops when I was folding them this morning. Miss Etta is no better, especially after she was locked in the guest bathroom for a couple of hours last night. She must have dashed in when I opened the door to get something from the cabinet and I didn't notice she was still inside when I closed the door. They are both racing around outside at the moment!

Hello Hiking Friends! Since we did not do Mt. Laidlaw yesterday, we are now planning to do this hike on Thursday October 27! Thanks to popular demand we are starting at 9:00AM, rather than 8:00, which allows the OF's to gently rise with a cappuccino or other favorite elixir. Let's try this and see how it goes. Again: Mount Laidlaw is on Highway 3A just west of Kaleden. For the trail head we will probably take Sheep Rock Road from Hwy 3A for 3.7 km then turn right onto Marron Ridge FSR. If you have a higher clearance vehicle for Marron Ridge FSR please bring it. I understand the road should be in good shape. We will meet at HH at 9:00AM, Summerlanders can meet at 8:40AM at the IGA in Summerland, then make their way to the HH in Penticton. Mark your calendars!
See you there, Aart

Hi everybody, Looks like a social club is shaping up - Monday hikes, Tuesday movie night, Wednesday's bridge play (Chicago, or not), all together very cool staff!! So, I am grounded for a while with my staffed sinuses, but hopefully next week I should be able to join such an active group. Cheers, Mike

Hi there, The Old Farts haven’t done breakfast for quite a while, and Otto has recently handed us a reason for getting together. His odometer has just turned over 75 years, and he has hauled in his fishing net for the last time. So, let’s get together at 0800 on Wednesday, October 26th at Debbie’s Diner (1960 Barnes St. in the industrial area). The breakfast will be buffet-style so that we can all eat at approximately the same time. Cost should be held to less than $15, coffee included.

There is one rather significant problem…Debbie’s Diner can only hold 25 of us. So, the first 25 who send me an email indicating that they are coming and in what numbers (one or two of you) will be included in this get-together. Sorry to those who miss out, but there is simply not any more room at Debbie’s Diner. Again: Wednesday, October 26th at 0800 at 1960 Barnes St. (from Cherry Lane Shopping Centre, go east on Warren Ave. Pass through the light at Government St. and take the next turn left onto Barnes St.) Reply to me. Cheers, Jim

I have removed Otto's email from this posting because it would be nice if we surprise him. Tuesday is Otto's 75th birthday. He is buying 2 cakes to celebrate his birthday with us on Monday. If you are coming, it might be a nice idea to bring a birthday card for him! Jos was thinking of having everyone sign one card, but then I thought maybe it would be nicer for him to get a bunch of cards! Just thought I would give you the heads up! Pam

Hi! Mr. Paparazzi ...you sure didn't waste any time in getting in touch with Liz, James & Katarina. Glad that you had a chance to meet up with them. I just got back from Kelowna last night and saw all your pics & email. I enjoyed 2 days of hiking in the Kelowna area and 'girlfriend bonding' with my friend. We had a super time together. Talk to you soon about our biking/hiking trip to Slovakia. Cheers!! Mary Lee :-)
